Job Description:
Position SummaryMaster level therapists (LPC/LCSW) are
responsible for providing group psychotherapy to patients meeting
criteria for admission into the IOP program. They provide care to
psychiatric patients with acute behavioral disorders and those
experiencing an acute exacerbation of a chronic psychiatric
illness. Therapists are responsible for documenting given group
services, case management services, and discharge planning for all
patients assigned to them. Therapists will also schedule patients
for monthly psychiatric follow-ups and complete Master Treatment
Plans and Treatment Plan Updates within the specified time frames.
Therapists are also responsible for direct patient care as needed
and to facilitate communication between patient and other clinical
or office staff as needed. Must be able to supervise LMSW or PLPC
as needed.Required Knowledge, Skills, Licensure, Training & Travel
Requirements (if applicable):Education: Must have a Master's level
degree from an accredited university and be licensed as a LPC or
LCSW in the state of Louisiana. CPR and Advance CPI is
required.Work experience: At least 3-5 years of clinical
psychiatric experience preferred.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must be able to work independently and under the guidance of
supervisor. Must be able to handle crisis situations arising with
patients and communicate well team members.Must be able to use
Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be able to work with patients with
various psychiatric diagnoses in a group setting. Must be able to
document patient's progressions and deficiencies on a daily basis.
Must be able to supervise PLPC or LMSW as needed.Interpersonal
Skills: The position requires a highly motivated individual with
outstanding organizational skills. Must be able to communicate well
and engage patients in the group setting.Travel Requirements:
Travel may be required.Essential Job Duties and Percent of Time1.
Group Psychotherapy (40%):Patient EngagementEngage patients in
group psychotherapy 1-4 times per week for 3 groups per day.Produce
a safe and therapeutic space for each patient to engage in the
group sessions.Utilize multiple modalities during the group
sessions to ensure that all patients are properly engaged and
benefitting from group sessions.Report to Clinical Program Director
if a patient is not able to be billed on and the reason why.Group
NotesComplete group notes for each day by 10:00 AM the next
business day and allow Office Manager to check notes for billing
purposes and then file each note into the respective patient
chart.Must complete each section of the group note for the note to
be considered complete and sign each note for each group
performed.Make sure that the correct treatment plan problems are
indicated on each note.Complete sign-in sheets, billing sheets, and
monthly billing sheets each day to ensure proper billing for each
patient.2. Master Treatment Plans & Master Treatment Plan Updates
(30%):Complete Master Treatment Plan within 7 days of the patient
admission.Make sure Master treatment Plans are signed by therapist,
MD, and patient within 7 days of admission or indicate why this did
not happen.Ensure that all long-term and short-term goals have
either been met or extended to cover patient's length of
stay.Complete Master Treatment Plan Updates (1st is to be completed
within 18 days of admit and then every subsequent 30 days) and have
therapist, MD, and patient sign within the allotted time frame.3.
Monthly MD Visits/Monitoring of Patient Days/Hours (20%):Make sure
each patient is scheduled to see MD every 30 days. Make sure is
patient scheduled to see the MD on a day the patient attends the
program.Complete a summary of patient's progress/deficits over the
last 30 days for MD to review.Alert Clinical Program Director if
patient is having an exacerbation of signs and symptoms or another
type of emergency which necessitates the patient being seen by MD
earlier than 30 days.File each MD progress note in patient's chart
after MD has signed the note.Suggest whether patient needs an
increase or decrease in service level for MD to evaluate.Monitor
patient's length of stay and, as necessary, monitor how many
sessions patient has attended and communicate with UR person if
patient requires more sessions to be authorized.4. Discharge
Planning (5%):Prepare patient for scheduled discharge/graduation
from program.Schedule any psychiatric/medical follow-up
appointments patient will need after discharge and document on the
Patient Discharge Instruction Sheet.Complete a discharge summary
for each patient within 10 days of patient discharge and have MD
sign the summary.If patient is discharged due to any other reason
other than a planned graduation, complete all the above-mentioned
steps other than the patient discharge instruction sheet.5. Other
