| Exempt Position Summary The Assistant Director of Early Childhood
and Lower School Operations Support partners with Division
Directors to oversee the Early Childhood program (Nursery–Pre-K4)
and support Lower School operations while upholding the mission and
philosophy of St. George’s Episcopal School. The Assistant Director
will endeavor at all times to provide leadership in the daily
activities of the Early Childhood and Lower School programs. This
person must be organized, have the ability to multitask, maintain
confidentiality and problem-solve proactively, professionally and
with a positive mindset. This role reports primarily to the
Director of Early Childhood and collaborates with the Director of
Lower School as needed for events and operational needs. Working
closely with the Director of Early Childhood, the Assistant
Director provides administrative support, assists program goals,
ensures licensing compliance and helps develop and implement
policies that sustain a high-quality learning environment. In
support of Lower School operations, the Assistant Director partners
with the Director of Lower School to coordinate key division-wide
functions such as family communications, events, assemblies, report
cards and standardized testing. The Assistant Director also
coordinates substitute coverage and supports overall faculty
well-being across both divisions. Duties include, but are not
limited to: Requirements: Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assistant Director of Early Childhood Administrative Support:
Support the Director of Early Childhood with the daily operations
of the Early Childhood program Provide organizational and
operational support to the Director of Early Childhood Maintain and
update teacher training manuals with the Director of Early
Childhood Assist with hiring in partnership with the Dean of
Faculty and Staff; manage interview schedules with prospective
hires and internal staff Act as interim Division Director if needed
(e.g. daily absences, vacation, long-term leave support) Manage
internal Early Childhood Google Calendar Communicates urgent
maintenance requests for Early Childhood facilities and follows up
to assure needs are addressed Attend after school leadership
meetings, parent-teacher conferences, admissions events and
division-specific events after hours Early Childhood Licensing and
Compliance: Support the management of Child Care Facility Licensing
compliance for the state of Louisiana Act as the Director Designee
for the school’s license when the Director of Early Childhood is
not on campus Maintain knowledge of licensing regulations and
ensure compliance with licensing, accreditation and health/safety,
state and city fire standards throughout the school year Complete
and manage licensing paperwork and compliance tracking (PD,
background checks, onboarding) for school-year Conduct daily and
monthly licensing rounds Coordinate licensing renewals and
health/safety/fire compliance Maintain Edlinks compliance with
regular oversight/spot-checks from the Division Director Partner
with the Director of Auxiliary Programs and the Auxiliary Program
Coordinator to ensure camp students and staff meet all licensing
requirements, maintaining the compliance records for Dragon Camp
and After Care teaching staff in the Early Childhood office and
electronic systems Assist Boh Center Secretary with coordination
and maintenance of logs in accordance with licensing standards:
attendance, observations, illnesses, accidents, parent visitors,
carpool and medical information. Teacher Support: In conjunction
with the Division Director, provide thought partnership to teaching
teams to support in-class needs, such as curriculum initiatives,
behavior support and interpersonal dynamic needs Professional
Development Management: Track staff training and professional
development requirements. Map out the schedule for professional
development days and division meetings; create and update proposed
yearly calendar Coordinate yearly required professional
developments and certifications, such as health and safety, CPR and
first/aid Create certificates for in-house Pathways-certified
professional development sessions Connect with teams and
individuals to assess professional development needs Manage
Personal Time requests, including updating the Sub Coverage
Calendar Review and approve time cards for non-exempt staff Manage
substitute schedules and staffing: Manage full-time floating
substitutes’ daily schedules, delegating tasks as needed to make
use of their time when not in a classroom Manage class coverage for
planned and unplanned absences in partnership with the division
directors and the Middle School and Resource Services Coordinator,
utilizing the first part of the morning to ensure all classes are
covered appropriately After-hours coverage needs will be documented
with the goal to minimize out-of-work-hour communications as much
as feasible. This work will be done in partnership with the
Division Directors. Act as hiring manager and lead the orientation
process of new substitutes, including mid-year hires and
licensing-focused onboarding, in partnership with the Dean of
Faculty and Staff and Director of Early Childhood Student and
Family-Facing Support: Support the Early Childhood Office with
day-to-day student and family support Manage urgent student
support; resolve small-to-medium behavioral “fires” Support
teachers with parent communication for day-to-day behavior issues
(template creation, guidance) Occasionally monitor students in the
Early Childhood Office pending parent pick-up in the case of
illness and/or for behavior-related breaks from the classroom Lower
School and Early Childhood Operations: Manage floating substitutes
and sub coverage for planned and unexpected absences in Early
Childhood and Lower School Assist the Division Director with the
oversight and implementation of health and safety policies and
protocols, including illness policies, found-hazard procedures and
all Early Childhood and Lower School emergency operations. Oversee
facility supply, including orders, maintenance and vendor
relationships; maintain inventory for all Early Childhood and Lower
School classrooms and supplies, including budget tracking, ordering
and picking up orders as needed in conjunction with Boh Secretary
Delegate maintenance of the Early Childhood and Lower School common
storage closets: art closets, Early Childhood library, Lower School
book closet and manipulative closet Support technology and data
systems, including maintaining digital rosters in Alma and
Brightwheel, managing Early Childhood sign-in sheets, inviting
families to Brightwheel and managing email lists in conjunction
with the Admissions and Communications Offices; support the
Technology Department with large-scale digital mailings, such as
report cards, progress reports and MAP Growth scores Create event
fliers and manage distribution with approval from the
Communications Office Plan and execute events, including
preparatory meetings, securing items, collaborating with
maintenance, sign-in and -out documentation, day-of logistics and
coordinating clean-up (including some weekend/evening events and
parent/teacher conferences) Facilitate sign-ups for Early Childhood
and Lower School parent/teacher conferences Draft the monthly
"Early Childhood Connections" and "Lower School Letter" to
highlight recent events, noteworthy academic learning and pertinent
upcoming announcements and reminders for families Support Early
Childhood carpool operations (morning and afternoon) Manage the
aesthetics and organization of the Boh Office alongside the Boh
Secretary Provide lunch coverage for the Boh Secretary and act as
back-up support in their absence if/until other coverage
arrangements can be made Ensure all internal operations and
initiatives are safe, organized and effective according to their
purpose Qualification Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required;
master's degree preferred Must possess an LDOE Early Childhood
Ancillary Certificate or be willing to get one 2-5 years of
experience teaching in an early childhood licensed facility
preferred Proficiency in Google Workspace applications including
but not limited to Gmail, Calendar and Drive (Docs, Sheets and
Slides) Experience with Canva, Mailchimp and Sign Up Genius
platforms preferred Ability to use an online student information
system, various digital educational platforms and safety and
communication applications on a Chromebook, iPad and/or a
smartphone Familiarity with using copiers, printers, document
cameras and presentation screens A sense of integrity, ethics and
ability to carry out responsibilities in accordance with the
school’s policies and procedures Adherence to strict
confidentiality of student and employee information Excellent
verbal and written communication skills, as well as organizational
skills Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities at one
time An analytical outlook with the ability to build and maintain
operational systems Demonstrated record of proactive problem
solving Working Conditions / Physical Demands: Must be physically
able to operate computers and office equipment. Occasional bending,
reaching, squatting, kneeling and twisting; constant walking,
speaking and listening; close visual attention to the computer.
